Welcome back, gentlemen. Today we are going to discuss the benefits of essential oils for hair and its uses. There are hundreds of essential oils out there with thousands of uses for them including, stress relief, skin ailments, pain relief, decongestant, and odor eliminating. However, today we will be focusing on uses for the hair. This is not an all inclusive blog about every essential oil that have benefits for your hair care routine. We will cover the top essential oils that can increase hair growth, strength, thickness, dry scalp issues, and dandruff.
Chamomile Essential Oil
Chamomile essential oil has several benefits for the health of your hair. These include adding a healthy shine to your hair, which softness and moisturizes your hair causing less scalp dryness and irritation. It also can cut down on dandruff and itching of the scalp to give you a moisturized healthy scalp balance. Another interesting effect of chamomile oil is that it can be used to naturally lighten your hair color. Mixing the oil, sea salt, and baking soda together creating a paste can make a great natural lightener for your hair. Using harsh dying chemicals can cause many unwanted health side effects as well as causing harm to the environment.
Peppermint Essential Oil

Peppermint oil has an abundance of nutrients and minerals which strengthens and nourishes the hair. It has antiseptic and antimicrobial properties which cool the scalp and decrease dandruff. It also stimulates hair growth and gives your hair a shiny and healthy appearance. You can also take a few drops of oil and put it in your favorite shampoo and conditioner to give you a nice fresh and tingling feeling.
Lemon Essential Oil
Lemon Essential oil works a little different compared to other essential oils in that you do not want to leave the oil in your hair; it is simply used to cleanse your scalp and hair. Lemon oil is great to get rid of oily scalp and hair as well as leaves a fresh scent in your hair. It has antiseptic and antimicrobial properties to relieve dandruff as well. Simply mix two tablespoons of jojoba oil or coconut oil in with a few drops of lemon oil and rub into your hair and scalp, rinsing off in the shower. Tea tree oil has several properties that make it an excellent oil for your hair routine. It helps dryness and itching on your scalp and reduces dandruff and irritation. Tea tree oils works deep into the roots of your hair follicles to increase flow of skin oils and unclogs the follicles. You can simply add tea tree oil to your favorite shampoo and conditioner to feel the amazing benefits that this essential oil can provide.
Cedarwood Essential Oil
Cedarwood essential oil has some amazing benefits for your hair and scalp. Cedarwood oil has a great woody profile perfect for guys that want a more manly scent. Cedarwood balances the oil secretion in the sebaceous glands. It also has a warming effect that creates a stimulating effect on the scalp which can increase hair growth. Cedarwood also helps to alleviate dandruff problems.
Rosemary Essential Oil

The scent profile is a sweet and soothing aroma, also great for relaxation and sleeping disorders. It increases blood circulation which helps with dandruff and dry itchy scalp. Lavender oil has strong antiseptic and antimicrobial properties making it great for scalp acne complicated by fungal or bacterial infections.
There are many other essential oils great for uses to help nourish your hair and scalp; however, I wanted to cover some of the top ones used today. As you will notice, many of these essential oils have some of the same properties. It all boils down to scent preference and what hair conditions you have. Another technique I want to point out here is the hair mask. The hair mask, you may ask, what the heck is that? A hair mass is used with a carrier oil such as olive oil, coconut oil, or almond oil. Simply take one of these oils and mix them with one of your favorite essential oils mentioned above. Rub the mixture thoroughly into your hair and scalp and let it sit in your hair for about an hour. Thoroughly wash out in the shower and your hair will have an amazing fuller thicker feel as well as making it stronger.
